Mystic, Connecticut, captured our hearts in every season. In the fall, we explored its coastal beauty in our fifth wheel, savoring the crisp air and cozy vibe. Returning in the summer with RaeMa and Pop added a new warmth, with family memories layered onto the charm we’d grown to love.
Downtown Mystic is like a scene from a postcard. With charming shops and scenic river views, it’s the kind of place you can wander for hours. A must-stop is Sift Bake Shop, where we treated ourselves to melt-in-your-mouth macaroons and an indulgent opera cake!
Watching the Mystic Drawbridge in action is worth the wait. And if you have a sweet tooth, grab a scoop of ice cream nearby to enjoy while you take in the sights.
Just a short drive away in New London, the Connecticut College Arboretum is a perfect fall stop. Spanning 750 acres, it features a native plant collection, meadows, woodlands, pond trails, and a wildlife sanctuary. We loved taking a quiet picnic here, a great break to relax and appreciate nature.
We’re already planning for our next visit! Top of the list: the famous Mystic Aquarium, Olde Mistick Village, a sailing or boat tour, Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, and the historic B.F. Clyde’s Cider Mill.
Mystic’s small-town coastal charm had us hooked from the start. Even after some last-minute scrambling, God provided the perfect spot, and the KOA’s comforts made it a warm and restful place to unwind.
God’s blessings are eternal, transcending the fleeting nature of this life. Remember, this existence is just a small blip in the grand narrative of eternity. For those who choose to follow Him, joy can be found even in sorrow, peace can reign in chaos, and the promise of eternal blessings awaits.
While we may not always grasp God’s will, the real question is whether we trust His plan.
Join me as I uncover what made Mystic, Connecticut so unforgettable, from colorful autumn strolls to sunny spring adventures!
After a few frantic calls, we were grateful to find a spot at the Mystic KOA. It was a water and electric-only site but with a twist—there was a connection pipe for gray water, something we’d never seen in all our years on the road but appreciated!
The KOA itself was well-equipped with a pickleball court, pool, playground, slides, game room, and weekend food trucks.
It was a perfect rest stop on our Triple Crown Tour.
Mystic is an incredibly walkable seaport town, though be prepared to pay for parking in most areas. Our first stop was the visitor center, where we got a sense of the town’s rich history and coastal charm.

Then, we visited the Mystic Seaport Museum. While we only explored the gift shop and historic ships this time, the museum also features a recreated 19th-century village with hands-on exhibits—a place we’ll want to explore in more depth on our next visit.

While I love exploring, it’s also a blessing to have those laid-back days at camp where there’s no need to plan, just to rest and enjoy being together.
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
On this election day, this verse serves as a profound reminder of where true joy and fulfillment reside.

- In the midst of the chaos, have you taken a moment to be still with God? Do you recognize that your relationship with Him can bring joy, regardless of the election’s outcome?

- Eternity is already in motion; the choice we face is significant. Will you spend yours in the presence of God or apart from Him?
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of life and for the joy found in Your presence. As we navigate the uncertainties in our country, help us to surrender our nation to You. May we trust Your plan and seek Your wisdom in every decision we face. In these chaotic times, may we find peace knowing that our eternal blessings are secure in You. Lead us closer to You today and every day, as we commit our hearts and our country into Your loving hands.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
