We are Headed to Africa!

Hello from the Harguess Family!

We are absolutely THRILLED to share an incredible opportunity God has placed before us!

From March 29th to April 12th, our family will be traveling to Mzimba, Malawi, to serve on a mission trip with Giving Basics, an amazing organization that directs 100% of donations to people in need.

This UNEXPECTED blessing is one we are embracing with faith, and we are excited to play a small part in what God is doing in Malawi.

Why Malawi?

For years, we have prayed for opportunities to serve as a family, and this trip came as a beautiful answer to those prayers.

Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, but its people are rich in warmth and resilience. 

We are humbled to bring hope, help, and the love of Christ to this incredible community.

What We’ll Be Doing

While there, we will:

• Unpack and distribute school supplies: Books, signs, and cabinets prepared by Giving Basics last summer will be delivered to students, equipping classrooms for learning.

• Serve breakfast to children: Through school feeding programs, we’ll help nourish kids to support their health and education.

• Deliver books to schools: Opening doors to education and brighter futures for Malawi’s next generation.

• Survey villages with Giving Basics wells: Ensuring clean water access and identifying future needs.

• Share the story of Jesus: During Easter weekend, we’ll show the Jesus film in Chulunga, sharing the Gospel in their native language.

• Build relationships with sponsored students: Encouraging them and deepening connections with the community.

How You Can Help

To make this mission possible, we are trusting God to help us raise $10,000 to cover:

• Airfare: $6,943.60

• Lodging: $676

• Meals: $560

• Local Transportation: $500

• Vaccinations: $1,200 (Yellow Fever and Typhoid)

• Projects: $1,000–$2,000 to help with tin roofs, mattresses, and school kitchens.
