Finding Home on the Road: Our Wisconsin Adventure

Wisconsin welcomed us with rolling hills, scenic valleys, and a new adventure. In Sparta—named after the ancient Greek city-state—we found strength not just in the breathtaking outdoors, but in the joy of slowing down, making memories, and embracing the beauty of God’s creation.

Full-time RV life isn’t just about travel—it’s about seeing His handiwork in new places and finding home wherever He leads us.

Pine View Campground: A Peaceful Retreat

For just $30 a night, we found a quiet escape at Pine View Campground on Fort McCoy. Tucked among the trees, it felt like our own little sanctuary—peaceful, cozy, and full of adventure.

With a lake, mini golf, and a disc golf course, we had plenty to do.
The best part? We could rent water toys for just $5!

As we leisurely hung around the campground, we were reminded how often the simplest moments are the most meaningful.

The stillness, the laughter, and the presence of loved ones—these are true riches of life on the road.

Sparta: The Bicycle Capital of the World

Did you know Sparta is known as the Bicycle Capital of America? With over 100 miles of scenic trails, it’s a haven for cyclers and novices (like me) alike.

Whether we were taking a leisurely ride or a longer trek, the fresh air and open road reminded us to slow down and appreciate the journey—not just the destination.

Wisconsin Dells: A Day of Family and Fun

Just an hour’s drive away, we met up with cousins in the Dells for a day packed with fun.

We strolled along the river, grabbed some pizza, and spent time in the arcade. There’s so much to do here—it’s the perfect day trip destination!

The highlight? Our cousin took us out on his boat, and we spent the afternoon wakeboarding, tubing, and soaking up the sunshine. My daughter was in heaven!

Next time, we’d love to visit Devil’s Lake—it’s been highly recommended, and we can’t wait to explore it.

Overall Experience

Wisconsin was green, gorgeous, and generous. We tried frying cheese for the first time- which is now a problem!

We were so grateful for the calm beauty, outdoor activities, and reconnecting with family, who were so gracious to us.

One of our favorite things about the full time RV lifestyle is being able to visit family and friends all over the country and forming deeper relationships than we would have ever been able to before.

A Glimpse from our Sticks and Bricks

  • Settling down after life on the road has been its own kind of adventure. While I often long for the open highway, the ever-changing scenery, and the thrill of the unknown, we’ve come to see that God still leads us on incredible journeys—just in a different way.

I also have come to realize that he set that longing in my heart because this world is not my home.

  • The relationships we’ve built along the way, whether through our travels or now in our more rooted life, hold eternal value. The people we meet, the friendships we form, and the love we share are glimpses of something far greater than this world can offer.

As much as we love the beauty of this world, we know it’s only a shadow of the home awaiting us in eternity.

As Rick Warren puts it, "You were made for more than just this life. This world is not your home; you were created for something far greater."

Hebrews 13:14 reminds us of this truth: "For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come."

  • No matter where life takes us—whether on the road or in one place—we know our true home is with Christ. Until then, we’ll keep embracing the journey, cherishing the people He places in our path, and trusting in His plan for every mile ahead.

The adventure isn’t over; it’s just taken a new form, and we can’t wait to see what He has in store next!
